Although the resort has a reputation as a playground for the rich and famous, the skiing really is first class. The local area has a good mix of tree-lined slopes below the resort and wide, open runs above it — more than enough to keep most happy for days. These are not to be missed! There are km of runs in Courchevel alone and once you add in those in neighbouring Meribel, Val Thorens, Les Menuires and St Martin you have over km of pistes to ski.
As well as the variety of pisted runs on offer there are a number of snow parks to explore and avalanche safety camps to test your skills, as well as some incredible off piste to keep the biggest powder hounds grinning all week. Courchevel is often heralded as an intermediate paradise although at closer look it does offer something for all levels from nervous first-timers through to off-piste adventurers.
Plus plenty of itinerary runs and off-piste to explore. Courchevel is set off to the far left of Courchevel which means it benefits from quieter pistes than can be found at neighbouring and shorter lift queues.
Though to be honest, with a fast and efficient lift system the queues in Courchevel are only really noted during New Year and February half term or first thing at the major lifts in resort. For Beginners: Beginners ski area — Just at the foot of resort just off the Mickeys run, serviced by a free drag lift. Western Ski Park — A second beginners area was created in just at the top of the Ariondaz bubble.

La Chabotte in — Another great value for money, this is the bistro restaurant to the Michelin starred Chabichou. They serve woodfired pizzas, steaks, and salads, as well as the usual Savoyard fayre, done better than the rest. A mixture of delicious tapas with favourites including the squid and croquettes. This rustic yet chic restaurant serves fine Italian dining from the antipasti to the tiramisu.
With its huge south facing terrace, this is a great spot for Savoyard fare and meat dishes. Here are a few of our favourite spots to grab a drink and see some live music. Bubble Bar — A great seasonnaires hang out and spot for cheap drinks. But with the war, things were postponed. They had become frozen out of the decisions and benefits of the resort. So they began to develop Moriond, Courchevel where they could own businesses and benefit from the tourism.
But there was little forethought to the plan and layout of the resort, leading to buildings springin up along the main road, with no thought for access or parking or the visual impact of the area.
