Tincopa Wong La estomatitis aftosa recurrente EAR , es la enfermedad de la mucosa bucal que se observa frecuentemente, siendo motivo de estudio considerablemente, pero, se conoce muy poco de su etiologнa y patogenia; inclusive, no se ha logrado establecer el origen de la palabra afta, palabra griega aphta que es traducida como algodoncillo, inflamar, incendiar y ъlcera. Tanto la EAR, la aftosis bipolar AB y la enfermedad de Behcet EB , son tres daсos estrechamente relacionados, que se postulan formen parte de un espectro clнnico continuo en la que la forma mбs grave serнa la EB, la mбs leve la EAR mientras que la AB serнa un estadio intermedio. Las principales caracterнsticas clнnicas son recurrencia de una o mбs ъlceras bucales, dolorosas, a intervalos de dнas a meses, y por lo general confinados a la mucosa blanda. Una afta es una ъlcera bien circunscrita, no sangrante, de fondo blanquecino, rodeada de halo eritematoso y de forma y tamaсo variables.
