It was here that he found himself surrounded by the people who lived with their own measure of time. The characters and stories seeped through to him and a coincidental tragedy from Hungary where Imre Negy was tricked and shot, revealed the protagonist of this book to him in its complete form. The land of this story resides in a warp of all quotidian life. Consumed in an evanescent mist of legends and dreams, every soul has a purpose and a precious chest of misery.
A benign outsider restless with guilt and despair finds himself at home in this escape. But when asked after he had lived here for some time, What are you running away from, Ravi? I want to be the laya, the dissolution Often this book has made me wonder, what is magic realism? Could it be that when a story is being told and is being precipitated by the reader with usual nods and chuckles and frowns, suddenly a sentence appears which creates ripples so strong inside the reader that he wonders what hit him?
It opens a faucet of emotions - happiness, misery, laughter, anguish. And mind you, that sentence is not an outcast or a pariah, it is very much an arm to the body, befitting and strengthening. I have been on such journeys before, my hand held by the legends of this genre, and I have to say, this one sits right with the all time best.
And when a lucky reader unearths such a text, running his fingers across words dancing on a fresh tune, in womb of a fateful night, the blissful ecstasy would find itself in new colors.
